Officers and First Responders Monitor Stress for Health Prevention

Everyday, first responders put their own lives at risk to help individuals, families, and communities. They experience frontline tragical issues, such as accidents, deaths, murders, etc. In Canada, according to the Tema Conter Memorial Trust, ‘’PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, is a very real phenomenon facing over 20% of all First Responders’’ (CASP, 2016).

Health data are useful to get insights about the individual’s vitals. Hexoskin provides the physiological data, which gives an easy access to the vital signs information in order to determine the appropriate prevention solutions. Hexoskin can measure and report in real-time, high-level actionable data such as readiness information;  remote dashboard for command center; focus and cognitive assessment; stress and fatigue monitoring; mood status monitoring; energy expenditure and metabolism monitoring.

Department of Homeland Security and Grant County Sheriff’s Office test new technologies for first responders

The Department of Homeland Security and Grant County Sheriff’s Office recently tested new technologies for first responders in diverse emergency scenarios in the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington state. Some first responders participating in the program are using Hexoskin to monitor their vitals and their data are transmitted to the command center using smartphones. Read the article ''First Responders test new communications tech in partnership with Homeland Security'' for more information.

Hexoskin demonstrates its connected health platform at DPharm in Boston

This week Hexoskin is in Boston to attend the 3rd Annual Mobile in Clinical Trials on September 19th and the 6th annual DPharm: Disruptive Innovations to Advance Clinical Trials on September 20-21, 2016 in Boston. This annual event sponsored by Hexoskin is an opportunity for the Life Science industry to share the latest thinking, insights, and updates on the application of disruptive and mobile technologies to advance clinical research and drug development.

On September 20th, Pierre-Alexandre Fournier, CEO and Co-Founder of Hexoskin will present how clinical grade wearable sensors like Hexoskin is used for long-term remote monitoring in clinical trials. He will also share with the participants some use cases involving Hexoskin for monitoring patients in clinical research, and share lessons learned & best practices.

Additionally, Hexoskin will demonstrate its technology in the exhibition hall of the conference on September 20-21st (booth #35). The Hexoskin team will present how Hexoskin can be used in clinical development with live demos and presentations.

We're very excited to join world-class innovators at DPharm to discuss and reflect on how disruptive technologies like Hexoskin will change the landscape of clinical trials.

If you're in Boston come visit us on September 20-21st!

Red Bull flying with Hexoskin in the Karakorum

The Free Flight Physiology Project Team in Karakorum, Pakistan is using Hexoskin to monitor their vitals when they fly over the countryside. Dr Matt Wilkes and this team from the Centre for Altitude, Space and Extreme Environment Medicine from the Institute of Sport Exercise & Heath (London, UK) are getting their gear ready for the Red Bull paragliding team later this year, but also to conduct serious research on physiology in altitude. They also took amazing pictures and video of their experience!

Paragliding in Pakistan

Here's more information about their project:

Paragliding is an air sport that has developed over the last 40 years into one of the most widely practiced forms of free flight. There are an estimated 127,000 active paraglider pilots worldwide.
Flights of over 100km across country are regularly made, using dynamic (soaring) lift and thermal updrafts, with the current open distance record standing at 514km. Paraglider pilots have flown from the summit of Everest, ascended in thermals to over 7,000m and gained as much as 4,526m of altitude in a single flight. (...)
Successful flying requires good physical coordination but is also cognitively demanding, for example: reading the landscape for thermal triggers and calculate glide angles, while remaining sufficiently spatially aware to pilot a craft though an invisible three-dimensional air mass, often containing other gliders in close proximity; in cold, hypoxic, ever-changing and sometimes intimidating conditions. (...)
Paragliding has become much safer over time but remains a high-risk pursuit. Most accidents are secondary to errors of piloting or judgement, rather than equipment failure. When accidents do occur, the consequences are often severe or fatal. Understanding the physiological demands on placed on pilots is therefore key to establishing systems to prevent injury or loss of life."

Hexoskin on your wrist, with Apple Watch

Hexoskin compatible with Apple Watch screenshot

We've worked with smartwatch makers Pebble, Neptune Pine, and oMate in the past, and NOW, we have the opportunity to be a part of this revolution with the Apple Watch. Now a few months after their official launch, with more than 2.8 million Apple Watches sold, it already outnumbers all other smartwatches and sport watches on the market and we are on board right along with them!

Today, the same day the Apple Watch is made available in stores, we're launching an app update that will allow you to read your body metrics measured by your Hexoskin smart shirt on your Apple Watch. A glance at your wrist now closes the feedback loop between body and mind.

At Hexoskin we were the first to make smart clothing compatible with iPhones and iPads, today we're proud to offer you the best smart shirt for your Apple Watch.

Stay in your zone, keep your pace, and enjoy the summer outside with your Hexoskin smart shirt and your Apple Watch!

Emotions, to Data, to Art

Art and technology meet to capture the experience behind the wheel.

Last August, The Atlantic's creative marketing group Atlantic Re:think organized a venue with Porsche and a few very special guests. The idea was to present the new Porsche Macan to these VIPs, record their emotions during the thrill drive and then turn that data into art. Hexoskin's smart shirt was used to collect biometric data from the guests, the folks from TRAQs did their magic with the data and Sosolimited, a digital design studio, turned all this into beautiful art. Teamwork!
